Breaking New Ground Outreach Program/Indiana AgrAbility awarded twowheelchair users at petting zooFFA Chapters cash prizes for their projects entered in the Bridging Horizons FFA Contest.  The awards were presented at the Indiana FFA Convention in the last general session on June 17, 2009.  The Bridging Horizons contest challenges FFA chapters to complete low-cost projects in their communities that enhance independence and promote success for people with disabilities.   Jay County FFA Chapter won 1st place and $600 for their project in which they poured concrete in the Young Mc Donald’s farm building at theirstudents paving farm building county fairgrounds.  This project made the building accessible during times of wet and muddy weather.  Southmont FFA Chapter took 2nd place and $350 for their project assisting residents of a local nursing home with their flower and vegetable planting and making the area accessible for the residents during the growing season.

Amber Wolfe and Jenny Conder staffed an AgrAbility booth from the Arthritis Foundation at the Indiana Rural Health Association Conference from June 9-11.  They awarded a door prize and materials to over 380 attendees.
