Sandra Stevenson,Oklahoma AgrAbility Project Manager,trained newly hired Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services counselors and technicians at the DRS Academy held May 6, 2010. Attendees received an overview of the AgrAbility Project as well as techniques and tips on how to collaborate together to better facilitate co-shared cases between DRS and AgrAbility.


Dr. Jan Johnston, Oklahoma AgrAbility Principal Investigator, and Kevin Bell, Program Coordinator, conducted in-service training for district and county Family and Consumer Science Educators on May 12 and 26, 2010. Participants received an overview of the AgrAbility Project and kits with a wide array of assistive technology. FCS Educators will return to their respective counties where they will be able to disseminate information about the Project and conduct assistive technology demonstrations to local farmers and ranchers with disabilities.


 Oklahoma AgrAbility participated in the Garfield County Progressive Agriculture Safety Day May 13, 2010. Over 300 participants were able to experience assistive technology and farm accommodations through simulation activities. The opening session was provided by Sandra Stevenson, Program Manager, who presented safety tips for children on the farm, disability awareness and “people first” language. The presentation was tailored to elementary school age children.
