With local fairs in full swing, CalAgrAbility staff are attending events to connect with farmers. In July they attended the 38th Annual Pear Fair in the Sacramento River Delta town of Courtland, CA.They will also attend the 10th Annual Ulezi Family Health & Safety Fair in Sacramento.
CalAgrAbility was also involved with ADA festivities.The CA Dept. of Rehabilitation along with state and local agencies,community-based organizations,and private businesses celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act in the Sacramento area the week of July 26, 2010 with a celebratory observance and resource fair at the State Capitol.
CalAgrAbility and Farmer Veteran Coalition co-sponsored a large event in Southern California for veterans who are currently farming or who may want to farm.This was a successful event and yielded several new consumers. Other outreach activities were conducted at the Hollister, Rafael Silva, and King City Migrant Centers and the Merced County Worknet Program, all located in the south central coastal region.This region farms row crops (lettuce, beans, broccoli, strawberries, avocados, etc.) vines, and livestock.
