Iowa Girl Scouts Invent a Prosthetic to Enable Three Year Old to Write

The Flying Monkeys Girl Scout team of Ames, IA have invented a prosthetic device to enable those with limb problems the agility needed to do such focused tasks as holding and using a pen. They have been awarded the FIRST® LEGO® League FLL® Global Innovation Award which funds the patent process for the innovative tool.

Free Wheelchairs Give New Life to Rural Mexicans

Richard St. Denis, a wheelchair user himself, was asked to bring a wheelchair with him on a trip in 1997. After seeing the change this gift made, he began collecting refurbished wheelchairs from America and distributing them to people with disabilities in rural parts of Mexico each year.
