National AgrAbility Project

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has announced that three AgrAbility resources will receive Blue Ribbon Awards in the 2011 ASABE Educational Aids Competition. They are:

The AgrAbility DVD was produced in cooperation with Purdue Agricultural Communications, and the fotonovela was a cooperative effort between the National AgrAbility Project, the California AgrAbility Project, Indiana AgrAbility, the Arthritis Foundation-Indiana and California Chapters, Transition Resources Corporation, the Western Center for Agricultural Safety and Health at UC Davis. Production was done by Fotonovelas del Valle.

The "Arthritis, Agriculture and Rural Life" conference (AARL) was held at the Beck Agricultural Center at Purdue University May 11-13, 2011. This was the first time for this type of conference and close to 60 people participated, coming from as far away as Maine and Montana. In addition to breakout sessions, a keynote presentation was given by Dr. Steven Kirkhorn, Medical Director of the National Farm Medicine Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Rob Stuthridge, project ergonomist for the National AgrAbility Program, led a half-day ergonomic workshop. Amber Wolfe and Kylie Hendress chaired the conference. Archives of session presentations and videos of speakers will be posted at www.arthritis-ag.org.


Amber Wolfe presented a 60 minute webinar through the AgriSafe Network on the prevention of osteoarthritis in rural farm youth on May 26. Twenty-two people participated in the webinar. The presentation is archived for AgriSafe members at www.agrisafe.org.
