White House Monthly Disability Calls

The White House Disability Group sponsors monthly conference calls that are open to all. The purpose of these calls is "to update you on various disability issues as well as to introduce you to persons who work on disability issues in the Federal government," and the issues and speakers for each month are taken from questions and suggestions raised on www.disability.gov. You can sign up for the White House Disability Group email distribution list at www.whitehouse.gov/disability-issues-contact.

TSA Announces Launch of TSA Cares Toll Free Helpline for Travelers with Disabilities and Medical Needs

TSA has launched a toll free number, 1-855-787-2227, which travelers can call prior to flying with questions about the screening process. TSA recommends calling about 72 hours in advance, and TSA Cares can coordinate with the TSA customer service manager at the checkpoint to provide specific accommodations. Read story

Hearing Aid Dog Goes Beyond Her Training and Earns a Degree

Tatiana, a hearing aid dog, has woken up family members when Cristina Saint-Blancard has struggled to breathe in the night, which is a response not included in her training to assist in hearing needs. When Saint-Blancard graduated with a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, Purdue awarded Tatiana with a Master of Friendship and Guidance. Read story
