On Friday, April 20, 2012, Minnesota AgrAbility Project staff Alvin Rasmussen and Dan Stores participated in the filming of a news story highlighting the Minnesota AgrAbility Project, and how the project has helped a local farmer in Harmony, Minnesota.
The video looked at farming with a disability, and how the Minnesota AgrAbility Project was able to help John Whalen continue farming after a tumor on his spinal cord resulted in both legs being paralyzed.
The story was filmed and reported by ABC 6 News (KAAL TV – Rochester/Austin Minnesota). The story and video may be viewed at: http://kaaltv.com/article/stories/S2592249.shtml?cat=10151
Minnesota AgrAbility Project staff Alvin Rasmussen and Dan Stores presented two training sessions at the 83rd Annual Minnesota State FFA Convention held on April 22-24, 2012.
The convention was held at the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus.
Over 3,000 high school students from across the state attended this year’s convention. "Assistive technology on the farm: From the fence line to the kitchen and everywhere in-between" was the subject of the training sessions. The training highlighted assistive technology, and the difference it makes for farmers with disabilities. The training was well received by the students attending the two sessions.
