Ohio AgrAbility is beginning work with Safe Haven Farms in southwest Ohio. Safe Haven Farms is a non-profit organization offering residential, day, and community services in a farm setting for individuals with autism. Staff members have conducted a site visit and met with individuals working on the farm and the farm manager. The next step is to assess some of the work tasks and provide recommendations for assistive technology and safe work practices.

An Ohio AgrAbility member was recently appointed, by Ohio Governor Kasich, to the Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC). The Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council (OSILC) is committed to promoting a philosophy of independent living, which includes consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access, and inclusion of individuals with disabilities into mainstream society.

Ohio AgrAbility is beginning collaboration with Susan Havercamp of the Ohio State University, College of Medicine.  The program is working with her to incorporate disability components throughout new medical curriculum in an effort to help medical students understand disabilities. Many Ohio AgrAbility members have volunteered to provide information and feedback related to living and working with a disability.
