Kentucky AgrAbility hosted the Kentucky State University's Third Thursday Thing at the KSU Research Farm on November 15, 2012. One of the guest presenters was Amber Wolfe, the National AgrAbility representative for the Arthritis Foundation. The audience consisted of farmers and professionals that had participated in the Small Farm Conference at KSU on November 14-15. Amber demonstrated some of the adaptive devises that can make it easier to accomplish chores around the farm and gardens. Some of the devices could be purchased from the local farm or hardware stores, others were made using items found around farms.
John Hancock of the Kentucky AgrAbility Project also presented at the conference using the "It's About Hope" video found on the NAP website. Both presentations were well received with KY AgrAbility receiving several referrals from those present.
KY AgrAbility participated in at the North American International Livestock Expo in Louisville November 3-18. The 14 day event hosted exhibitors and visitors from across the US and more than two dozen countries.
In October the AgrAbility team joined all University of Kentucky county Extension agents at the annual update conferences held in Marshall and Clark counties. The two conferences gave agents from all 120 counties a chance to discuss the issues surrounding agriculture and catch up on new ideas. This is the time that KY AgrAbility can meet with agents across the state to talk about issues involving the constituents of their county and talk about what AgrAbility can do for them.
Plans are being finalized for activities in 2013. Have a great holiday season and hope to see you next year.
