The annual Extension Agent Update conferences were held in Owensboro, KY and Winchester, KY. This meeting gives the agents, both old and new, a chance to hear about new regulations and products as well as things that could help their clients. Once again the KY AgrAbility staff was able to talk to agents from all 120 counties and show them some of the things that had been done for the people in their area.
Staff members were on hand for the video and interview of one of the clients in eastern Kentucky. After editing, this segment will become part of the presentation of 100 years of Kentucky Extension documentary for the university. This segment will be put on the website as a case study and is one of the best examples of how AgrAbility can affect a farming operation and the client in Kentucky.
The National FFA conference was held in Louisville October 30-November 1. KY partnered with staff from the National AgrAbility Project to pass out brochures and interact with advisors and FFA members from all over the U.S. to make them aware of AgrAbility and farm safety.
Earlier this fall, KY AgrAbility was contacted immediately after an accident in LaRue County, KY. The staff is working with the farmer and his family to get him back to the dairy business as soon as possible. He has given us permission to share his story with the rest of AgrAbility and to provide updates as he progresses through this traumatic accident.
