National AgrAbility Project

More than 70 AgrAbility staff members, other professionals, and consumers participated in the 2013 AgrAbility Virtual National Workshop. The web conference was composed of six individual webinars spread over three days. Total combined attendance for all sessions was more than 250.

All sessions from the 2013 V-NTW are scheduled to be archived at http://agrability.org/Online-Training/virtualntw/index.cfm by Monday, December 16.

Kylie Hendress of National AgrAbility, Linda Bokros of Kentucky AgrAbility, and Mike Lewis of Growing Warriors Project, presented "AgrAbility and the Farmer Veteran: A Panel Discussion" at the Empowering Women Veterans conference held in Louisville, Kentucky on November 15-17. The session introduced AgrAbility to the group and discussed how AgrAbility can help veterans with disabilities succeed in agricultural enterprises. Kylie and Linda also set up a National AgrAbility and a Kentucky AgrAbility display and distributed materials.


The NAP is currently accepting proposals for session presentations, unconferencing sessions, and posters for the 2014 National Training Workshop in Lexington, Kentucky. Please send your proposal to Kylie Hendress by January 17. Also, remember to forward the request along to anyone you think might be interested in presenting at the conference.


NTW farmer/rancher travel stipend applications have been sent out to all of the SRAPs and previous NTW travel stipend recipients. Applications are also posted on the NTW website. Applications are due by January 31. Contact Kylie Henress for more information.

Amber Wolfe attended the National Center for Farmworker Health's Midwest Stream Forum in South Padre Island, Texas from November 14-16. She staffed an exhibit table throughout the conference and gave a 45-minute presentation titled "The Value of Fotonovelas for Osteoarthritis Health Education Among Farmworkers" that discussed the Arthritis Foundation/AgrAbility's Spanish Fotonovela resource "¿Podrá ser la ARTRITIS lo que me causa DOLOR?," "Could Arthritis Be What is Causing My Pain?" A national webinar, "Osteoarthritis, Joint Stress, and Injury Prevention in Livestock Production," was presented by Amber Wolfe on November 19.
