The 2013 Southeastern Strawberry Expo in Durham, NC was a great way to round out the year of activities for NC AgrAbility. The 2014 occupational therapy M.S. students from East Carolina University participated in talking with producers about farming with arthritis and back pain. Staff presented the "Work Smarter, Not Harder" (WSNH) initiative, created in collaboration with Arthritis Foundation-Mid Atlantic and Western Carolina University Department of Physical Therapy. The interactive presentation focuses on tips and tricks for farming with arthritis and other chronic pain conditions and preventing secondary injuries through best work practices, ergonomics, and adaptive tools. The next WSNH initiative presentation is scheduled for January 16 at the Montgomery County Annual Cattlemen's Association meeting.
