Maine AgrAbility staff spent three days at the 2015 Agricultural Trades Show in Augusta with over 5,000 visitors to the event. Advisory council members and AgrAbility farmers were also on hand to help at the booth and to talk about the program. The theme of the booth was farm safety for children and farm safety planning. Staff used surveys to collect data about farm safety attitudes among farmers and to assess the need for farm safety planning education.
Staff also presented workshops on holistic farm management and risk management. Maine AgrAbility appreciated having Ron Jester from the Mid-Atlantic AgrAbility Project at the Ag Trade show. He talked about farm safety planning during four workshops for small fruit and vegetable growers, a beginning farmers group, and apple growers.
