Kentucky AgrAbility was able to attend several events this year before the recent weather put them in the deep freeze. In January KY AgrAbility was at the KY Cattleman's Conference in Owensboro. This is the state annual conference and is always well attended. Upon returning, the organizational meeting for the Annual Summer Assistive Technology Workshop got under way. KY OVR along with KY AgrAbility, Protection and Advocacy, KATS Network, and the UK Human Development Institute, will be hosting this two-day meeting at the Marriott Griffin Gate Hotel in Lexington, KY, on June 17 and 18. The KY Congress on Spinal Cord Injury will be holding their conference in conjunction with the AT Workshop. This was done last year and the response was so positive that it was decided once again to combine the two events. Registration is now open at: www.hdi.uky.edu/atworkshop.
One of the major events for KY AgrAbility is the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY. This is the largest indoor farm machinery show in North American and is attended each year by nearly a half million people. Bad weather this year did not seem to keep people away. The booth this year featured the all-terrain Action TrackChair and a modified farm tractor for those with mobility problems. Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Healthcare, a partner with KY AgrAbility, and the KY OVR office were also a part of the exhibit. Following the FMS exhibit, KY AgrAbility closed for the week (LOL). Record snowfall and record low temperatures required that AgrAbility put visits and other plans on hold for a while, including the monthly Third Thursday event at the Kentucky State University Research Farm.
