Ohio AgrAbility staff was able to secure a second grant from the Ohio attorney general to purchase assistive equipment for Ohio farmers with disabilities. The first recipient of equipment for this grant was an 84-year-old farmer from Brookville, Ohio, whom, along with his wife, still farm almost 400 acres with very little outside help. The farmer suffered a stroke that left him with limited use of his right leg. Ohio AgrAbility purchased a Life Essentials trailer-mounted lift for him so that he can get from his wheelchair or scooter into the cab of his tractor or combine. The lift helped them complete their harvest in a timely manner and start on fall tillage work. Ohio AgrAbility is seeking other Ohio farmers who might need assistive equipment and who do not have other resources to cover all of the cost of the needed gear.
