The 13th Annual Institute in Technology held at the KSU research farm was attended by over 100 rehabilitation specialists, medical professionals and others on both days. KY AgrAbility co-hosted the event with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and KY Assistive Technology Services. Sessions provided by KY AgrAbility included: "Smart Technology for Farmers"; "Drones, A Good Fit for Disabled Farmers"; "Boots on the Ground, Veterans and Agriculture"; and "Emerging Technology for Disabled Farmers". Different wheelchairs were available for demonstrations including several off-road or rough terrain models. Also at the workshop were UTVs, vans and SUVs modified with ramps, lifts, and hand controls.
AgrAbility was included in a workshop held for beginning farmers at St. Catharine's College in Springfield, KY, on May 21st. This workshop was hosted by KY Growing Warriors and NCAT, National Center for Appropriate Technology. This was the second in a three-part series to promote successful business practice and sustainable farm enterprises with an emphasis on veteran farmers.
