Maine AgrAbility at Farm Homestead DayMaine AgrAbility staff conducted two workshops at Farm and Homestead Day at the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association's Unity Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 11, 2016. The morning presentation was "Gardening with Arthritis" by AgrAbility specialist Ellen Gibson, of Goodwill Industries of Northern New England. The program suggested tools and techniques to help people continue to garden despite age, injury or disability. In the afternoon, volunteers constructed a raised bed under the direction of Richard Brzozowski, of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. The finished construction was approximately 36 inches high, allowing a person to garden while standing or sitting.
