Several GA AgrAbility clients and staff attended the USDA and Southwest Georgia Project Training and Workshops held in Albany, Georgia, on July 28. The event included Lanon Baccam, Deputy Under Secretary and Military Veterans Agricultural Liaison, USDA Farm and Foreign Agricultural Service; Vernita Dore, Deputy Under Secretary, USDA Rural Development; Marcus Brownrigg, AmeriCorps VISTA Director of Program Impact and Operations, Corporation for National and Community Service; and James Tillman, Regional Conservationist for the Southeast, USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service. Following the general session, several breakout sessions were held throughout the afternoon to learn about both USDA and State programs available to farmers and ranchers.
