On July 30th, 28 military veterans and their families from across Indiana participated in the Beginning Farmer Veteran Workshop at the Beck Agricultural Center in West Lafayette, IN. Producers and Purdue Extension presented a variety of topics to veterans, including livestock management, different financing options, vegetable production, beekeeping, and woodlot income. Steve Swain presented information in regard to vocational rehabilitation and business planning, while Shawn Ehlers presented material discussing equipment selection and purchasing.

Linda Tarr, southern Indiana coordinator, assisted Area 15 Agency on Aging with Senior Days at the fairs in Crawford and Orange counties. She was the guest speaker for Jennings County Farm Bureau, Inc. at their county fair and did a program at the farmers appreciation event at the Clark county fair. She also participated in the Purdue beginning farmer event in Oaktown.
