Michigan AgrAbility was featured on Grand Valley State University's (GVSU) 88.5 FM NPR radio "Morning Show". During her 11 minute interview, Bev Berens, Michigan AgrAbility's case manager, explained Michigan AgrAbility's mission and accomplishments. Her interview with Shelly Irwin of the Morning Show can be heard here.
Michigan AgrAbility has been actively "sharing the news" and "spreading the word" of other organizations' agriculture-oriented events and news. Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) is sponsoring a Farm Safety For Kids (ages 8-14) workshop in August, the 7th Annual Pulling For Kids, which is a fundraiser for children with spinal cord tumors, and two MFB Farm News articles about Michigan AgrAbility clients: Marine veteran Jason Scramlin and wife Jordon, who received a Kubota L-series compact tractor from Kubota Tractor Corp. in cooperation with the Farmer Veteran Coalition, , and Michigan cherry grower John Gallagher III, wife Rose, and family, who hosted the National Cherry Festival Industry Day event at Gallagher Farms in Cedar, Michigan.
August looks to be a busy month for Michigan AgrAbility: staff will be participating in diversity training at several meetings of the Michigan Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), having a booth at a county fair and at the Upper Peninsula State Fair, and hosting an area and booth where people can try to perform different farm tasks with a simulated disability at a "Breakfast on the Farm" in Marlette, MI, where more than 2000 people will visit a crop farm, have breakfast and see agricultural displays.
