CalAgrAbility presented to a group of 25 migrant farmworker parents on AgrAbility services and arthritis. Attendees got to try ergonomic gardening hand tools, a medium size HER Shovel, and an ergonomic knife. The presentation was held during the Migrant Education Parent Meeting at the Galt School District. CalAgrAbility staff was invited to attend the Migrant Education Parent Conference to be held in March.
CalAgrAbility attended the 2016 Veteran Celebration at the USDA headquarters in Davis. The celebration featured veteran advocates from NRCS, The Soldiers Project, Purple Star, and the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee. This year's theme was 'Veterans & PTSD and Highlighting Women Veterans.' The workshop highlighted programs that can help reintegrate and support veterans to reach their potential. The Soldiers Project presenter opened the celebration with a guided imagery activity meant to help civilians get a perspective of situations, smells, and sounds that can be a trigger for veterans.
CalAgrAbility added an "Event Locator" tab at calagrability.ucdavis.edu to help agencies and web traffic learn about outreach events around the California. The Event Locator resulted from many conversations with outreach representatives across the state and a need to have a centralized place where agencies can collaborate to increase event visibility and participation. Agencies hosting an event can submit their event online to be added to the Event Locator.
