Kentucky AgrAbility held a meeting with the KY AgrAbility Advisory Board in February at the Fayette County Extension office. The board focused on what had been done in the last six months and what would need to be done in the next six months. Plans were made for the veteran conference to be held this spring and for a track of presentations at the July 20th Third Thursday Event. This will be a special 20th anniversary of the monthly meeting and, as always, will be held at the Kentucky State University Research and Demonstration Farm outside of Frankfort, KY. The Kioti demonstration tractor still needs a couple of final installations to have it ready for clients to test. It is equipped with hand controls, seated lift, and other modifications.

KY AgrAbility's Kioti demonstration tractorThe big event was the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY, at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center. Held February 15 - 18, it hosts more than 880 booths covering 1.2 million square feet in eight interconnecting exhibit spaces. In other words, bring your walking shoes. KY AgrAbility was able to talk to many of the more than 300,000 attendees. While most were from the state of Kentucky, other visitors were from states without AgrAbility programs. Staff took the opportunity to tell them how AgrAbility works with disabled farmers and their families. Canada, Virgin Islands, Ireland, and Turkey were just some of the other countries of origin for people that visited the booth. Next year's event is scheduled for February 14 -17, 2018.
