CalAgrAbility staffed a booth at the Veteran Career Fair at Cal State Fresno, hosted by the Farmer Veteran Coalition. Many vendors participated, including USDA, Cal Poly Pomona, and various small consulting businesses. The event had both informational booths and career fair booths. The event had many networking opportunities among agencies that attended. CalAgrAbility was invited by Michael O'Gorman to present to new Farmer Veteran Coalition staff on CalAgrAbility services.
CalAgrAbility continues to lend agricultural ATs through the Ability Tools AT Exchange Lending Library. This month, staff sent out a sit/stand stool for a nursery worker and ErgoMates (anti-fatigue overshoes) to an independent living center. Bionic gloves, tractor scoot, and CobraHead add-ons were all returned to the library.
CalAgrAbility has conducted outreach at three local migrant centers in two counties. This year the migrant centers are seeing a record number of families coming to the area to work. Staff had contact with over 300 families during these events. Among them was a former CalAgrAbility client that staff see year after year. Her story will be featured in an upcoming CalAgrAbility Story. Stay tuned to the CalAgrAbility Quarterlies to read about her.
