The Howard County Purdue Extension agriculture and natural resources educator, Paul Marcellino, invited Steve Swain, Indiana AgrAbility rural rehabilitation specialist, to present a workshop to the Howard County Master Gardeners titled "Gardening Tools for People with Disabilities or Those Who are Getting Older." The presentation provided information about garden accessibility and tools. Attendees were shown examples of various gardening tools that could be used and how they could make garden work easier and safer. Each attendee also received publications addressing arthritis and agriculture, arthritis and gardening, and back impairments.

Chuck Baldwin staffed an AgrAbility booth at the disABILITIES Expo in the Ft. Wayne, IN, War Memorial Coliseum on May 13. Good networking contacts were made with many other exhibitors. A favorite was speaking with the owner/founder of www.onearmedfishing.com, Ken Stelmaszek, about his adaptive fishing equipment, including a reel that doesn't require any hands, but instead uses a sip-and-puff system to wind the reel. Chuck was again impressed with how many supportive agencies there are in the USA for people with disabilities.
