TLC Trotting Like Champions FUN WalkTLC Trotting Like Champions 5K/1 mi FUN Walk held its 3rd annual event in May. There were 37 runners and walkers participating. Tennessee AgrAbility Project (TNAP) staff helped organize and volunteered at this event. TLC Riding Academy, Inc., is a nonprofit therapeutic horseback riding program and is a PATH International Member Center for persons with disabilities. Therapeutic riding uses horseback riding and other equine assisted activities for the purpose of contributing positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of people with disabilities.


Gypsy Vanner horseYou can help win a Gypsy Vanner for TLC Riding Academy, Inc. On April 15, 2017, TLC Riding Academy entered a contest to win a Gypsy Vanner for their program. Lexlin Gypsy Horse Program in Rockwood, TN, began a contest to give away 20 gypsies to therapeutic riding centers who entered their contests. Eighty centers have entered. TLC is a small center in rural west TN. Currently, TLC is in first place, with 24449 votes (at the time of writing). TN's Haywood County Progressive Farm Safety Day for 5th gradersHaywood County Progressive Farm Safety Day was held for 5th graders. There were 264 students in attendance. TNAP staff was in charge of the disability awareness center. Students had a chance to see how it felt to have dyslexia, vision/hearing impairment, and the use of a wheelchair. The weather did not cooperate so activities had to be moved into the school. Quote from 5th grader during wheelchair obstacle course: "I got this. I know how to do this. It's harder than I thought."
