Tuttle Orchards farm tourAs part of the Indiana Beginning Farmer/Rancher Program, AgrAbility staff hosted a veteran farm tour at Tuttle Orchards in Greenfield, IN, on July 8th. Ten military veterans and their family members from across the state attended. Veterans participated in informational sessions on basic fruit tree care and orchard management with an emphasis on pest management and pruning practices. The event's lunch was provided by Tuttle Orchards Café and included locally grown and raised products. A tour of Tuttle Orchards followed in the afternoon. The farm is co-owned by the Roney family. Tom Roney, an army veteran, Tuttle Orchards farm tourpassed away before the tour was held. He and his brother inherited the four-generation orchard from their parents. The orchard features U-pick apples and pumpkins, a corn maze, on-site café, and a year-round farm store, plus a variety of other vegetables and plants sold from their greenhouses.
