Tractor rolloverVermont AgrAbility would like to give a report and warning about recent tractor rollovers in Vermont. Earlier this month, a seven-year-old child was killed while riding in a buddy seat with the seatbelt on, with his father spreading manure from a very large tractor with a full large liquid manure spreader attached. They were spreading crossways on a hill. The manure spreader had turf tires and they began to slide on the slope, overturning the tractor and crushing the child. The point VT AgrAbility would like to make is that if a person is working on a slope or ditch banks, they should always go up and down the bank and never sideways. This is the second accident Vermont has had in recent times. Please help spread the word: up and down, not sideways on hills.

Vermont AgrAbility is also working to establish four different meeting sites around the state for farmer veterans to meet monthly to discuss things of their choice. Four different facilitators have been identified that are willing to have the group come to their farm to help support each other.
