Ohio AgrAbility staff participated in the first annual McCormick Vision Fair, hosted by the Goodwill Easter Seals of Miami Valley, in Dayton, Ohio. OAP displayed a poster on gardening with visual impairment and offered attendees a handout with tips and resources on gardening with visual impairment. Many of the attendees said they tended plants inside but had not thought of gardening outside because of vision loss or blindness. A few said they would try container gardening in the spring and were happy to have the handout with tips and resources.
Ohio AgrAbility staff presented "Ohio AgrAbility and Family and Consumer Sciences: Collaborating to Serve Ohioan's with Disabilities" at the annual family and consumer sciences conference. OAP staff presented various OAP and NAP resources to attendees and asked attendees to list FCS resources that could help OAP clients. Lastly, the group discussed resources that are needed and how OAP and FCS could collaborate to better serve Ohioan's with disabilities. Areas identified included caregiver resources, mental health information, and ways to reduce stigma around mental health and substance abuse. Plans were made to continue collaborating and to develop resources and workshops to address consumer needs.
