Ohio AgrAbility's disability services coordinator, Laura Akgerman, presented Generation Rx to the Columbus Advisory Council on Disability Issues. Generation Rx is an online toolkit developed by the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and Cardinal Health. The advisory council meets monthly and reviews disability issues (accessibility of buildings, roads, and other public spaces) and resources available to the disability community. The Advisory Council reports to Columbus City Council, and the members are appointed by the mayor of Columbus for two-year terms; Laura has represented Ohio AgrAbility and OSU Extension on the advisory council since September 2017.
The advisory council has provided Ohio AgrAbility with the opportunity to share events, trainings, and updates on services, and to build awareness that Ohio AgrAbility has resources available for city-dwellers as well as rural farmers. In addition to Ohio AgrAbility information, Laura has shared a number of OSU Extension resources with the council and has invited colleagues from Extension to share information about health and accessibility initiatives taking place throughout the state.
