Texas AgrAbility has had a hot and eventful month.

The San Antonio area farm tour was held on June 29 at Mesquite Field Farm. Doug Havemann, co-owner of Mesquite Field Farm, is an army veteran and longtime AgrAbility supporter. He started his grass-fed beef operation after attending a Battleground to Breaking Ground agriculture business workshop in 2013.

Mesquite Field Farm owner-operators Doug and Melissa Havemann shared their experience starting their grass-fed beef and specialty crop operation after transitioning from the military. Participants took part in moving their cattle to a new paddock, and one attendee was even able to feed their bottle calf.

Texas AgrAbility along with the Battleground to Breaking Ground Project hosted an agriculture workshop for veterans and beginning farmers and ranchers on June 30 in San Antonio. Erin Kimbrough delivered information about starting agriculture operations, and Makenzie McLaurin presented about AgrAbility. Several new client relationships were established as a result of the workshop.
