National AgrAbility Project

The AgrAbility National Training Workshop will take place in Lincoln, NE, March 25-28, 2019, at the Embassy Suites-Downtown Lincoln. The request for proposals and request for posters have been sent out and is due back to Tess McKeel by October 15th. Planning is coming along and JoBeth and Tess will have more information out soon.

Upcoming AgrAbility Regional Events

• Albuquerque, NM, November 8 - 9, 2018, at the Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Uptown. Registration is open!! The cost for the two-day event is $100. This event has been approved by the New Mexico licensure boards for PTs and OTs, and participants can earn up to 13 CEUs at this event.

  Staff are excited about the sessions being offered at this event, including: How Occupational Therapists Can Fit Into AgrAbility; Effective Lighting in Agricultural Settings; Micro-Farming; Adaptive Tools and Technology; and Worksite Assessment. Day two will feature a tour including agriculture businesses focused on employing individuals with developmental disabilities, and urban farming along with some integrated worksite assessment instruction.
• Mt. Vernon, WA, December 5-6, 2018, at the Washington State University Northwestern Washington Research & Extension Center. More details will be sent out soon!

In August, JoBeth Rath and Tess McKeel staffed a booth, in conjunction with ABVI, at the Empire Farm Days located in Seneca Falls, NY. The event is the largest outdoor agricultural trade show in the Northeastern U.S., showcasing all the latest tractors, farm implements, and dairy industry innovations alongside working demonstrations, live animal seminars, and more than 600 exhibits loaded with the latest agricultural information for successful farming. The booth was located in the Farm Safety Tent sponsored by NYCAHM.

The National AgrAbility Project staffed a display in the Health and Safety Tent at the 2018 Farm Progress Show at Boone, Iowa. The display included an AgrAbility popup banner, AgrAbility publications, and safety publications. Life Essentials also exhibited at the Farm Progress Show with publications, an Action Track Stander power wheelchair, a running board lift, and a truck lift. AgrAbility and Life Essentials were able to cross-refer attendees to their respective services and products.
