Kansas AgrAbility staff had an interactive booth at the Mother Earth News Fair, Oct. 21-22, in Topeka. KAP's priority was to increase its reach to small producers, beginning farmers, and women producers. Over 400 of the 1,200 attendees spent time at the KAP display, and staff provided 150 demonstrations of devices. Questions ranged from back-saving solutions for harvesting sweet potatoes to adapted tools for farmers with upper extremity amputations. Staff had 15 follow-up requests from Mother Earth News Fair attendees for their two-day effort. A tablet with open-captioned videos of farm solutions was popular with attendees. KAP staff also attended workshops on diverse topics to increase knowledge of growing mushrooms, small operation cheese making, kimchi and honey production, and marketing.
