FFA chapters from all over the state converged to learn about potential careers in ag at the FFA Pathway to Careers conference in Grand Island, Nebraska. Nebraska AgrAbility staff presented two sessions about AgrAbility and farming with a disability.
Another meeting about veterans in Northeast Nebraska was held to discuss more on how to connect veterans with all the resources in their area. The group is currently working to create an AgrAbility handout for local doctors' offices that treat veterans.
Nebraska AgrAbility was featured at a booth for the FarmHer Conference in Lincoln. This conference spotlights young women farmers ages 16-21. The sessions teach skills for use in having conversations with businesses and in marketing. Approximately 200 females were engaged in conversations at the booth. Many college ag-communications majors were interested in the program and expressed interest in how they can help share this information.
Two staff members attended the Ag-Ceptional Women's Conference in Norfolk. There were over 400 women farmers and ranchers from around the state present. NE AgrAbility's educational outreach focused on stress and its effect on women and men on the farm or ranch. Ways to de-stress were offered. There was a special informational tip sheet created for help with stress reduction and resources, and Plinco was the main attraction to get the booth noticed. It worked!
