Tatanka Ki Owetu, the AgrAbility Project focused on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, hosted the National AgrAbility Project at its first-ever "Introduction to AgrAbility" workshop on the Pine Ridge Reservation at the end of October. Fifty-three individuals attended the two-day workshop including partners. Eighteen Oglala Lakota tribal members signed up to participate in South Dakota's AgrAbility project from this one event.
Staff have begun to do site visits and assessments and will soon be starting their Mental Health First Aid train-the-trainer events (dates TBD). Staff have also started offering week-long how-to-build-a-high-tunnel AgrAbility trainings for tribal participants who want to become high-tunnel producers but struggle with PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, alcoholism, drug addictions, arthritis, and/or mobility issues.
