2019Kansas AgrAbility staff joined one of their partners, the Servicemember Agricultural Vocation Education Farm (S.A.V.E. Farm) on a bus tour to the Olathe Horticultural Research and Extension Center. S.A.V.E. Farm offers agriculture-related tours for transitioning soldiers and veterans for career orientation and on-site learning opportunities. KAP staff plan to attend other tours this summer, including visiting a blackberry and lavender farm, a buffalo ranch, and a flower market. KAP is also coordinating a S.A.V.E. tour to one of its past customers to share the modifications and equipment KAP assisted their client with to continue his cattle and crop operation.
KAP was pleased to introduce AgrAbility to young women that attended the Grow by FarmHer events in Manhattan, Kansas, and Stillwater, Oklahoma. AgrAbility friend Carey Portell spoke at both events and another in Columbia, Missouri. Carey and FarmHer inspired, educated, and empowered the women who are interested in a future in agriculture.
