As a new meeting dynamic, NC AgrAbility Partnership is hosting its quarterly meetings at different locations where it can share more with collaborators and other stakeholders. On July 10 NC AgrAbility Partnership held its quarterly meeting at the NC Assistive Technology Program Greensboro office. Tammy Koger and her team provided a tour through the facilities and an overview of what an AT technologist does while serving the AgrAbility clients.
On July 20 NC AgrAbility staffed a booth at the Tomato Taste-ival at NCA&T farm. The event was attended by farmers, master gardeners, and the NCA&T family. Among them were Dr. McEwen, NCA&T provost and executive vice chancellor of academic affairs, and Dr. Ahmedna, dean of the College of Ag and Environmental Systems and the dean of the Cooperative Extension. A total of 100 participants attended and had the opportunity to learn more about the NC AgrAbility program, get resources, and try the ergonomic tools displayed.
On July 31 in Greenville, NC, one of the NC AgrAbility partners, the NC Agromedicine Institute, provided a Mental Health First Aid training presented by Ruby Brown-Herring and Rachel Johnston who walked participants through the process of recognizing the signs of mental health conditions, the way to assist a person in distress, the process to follow in those circumstances, and the way to put the individuals in contact with the appropriate resources for further assistance. It was a great deal of information and discussion of case studies. At this training, Dr. Crystal Kyle and Beatriz Rodriguez from NC AgrAbility received their certification for three years.
