Diabetes novela coverThe 5 Healthy Steps for the Prevention of Diabetes novela is finally here! Check out the English and Spanish versions here. This novela follows a father who showed symptoms of diabetes, which led to his diagnosis. The father learns how to manage his diabetes with the support of his family. Management tips along with healthy portions are also introduced in this novela. In collaboration with the Western Center of Agricultural Health and Safety and Dignity Health, this novela hopes to bring education and awareness on diabetes to the agricultural worker community.


Staff did outreach at the Farmer Veteran Coalition's California conference at California State University, Fresno. Agencies from all over California including Farm Bureau, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Center for Land Based Learning, and many more came to inform veterans from the Central Valley and surrounding areas about resources available to them. California AgrAbility was able to display small ergonomic hand tools to educate participants on assistive tools available to them.


CA AgrAbility at the Black Farmers ConferenceCalifornia AgrAbility had an information booth at the Black Farmers Conference with Urban Farmers: Growing Together in Fresno, CA. The event was hosted by the USDA in partnership with the West Fresno Family Resource Center. Speakers included Will Scott, president of the African American Farmers group in California, and Dr. John Boyd, president of the National Black Farmers Associations. The conference featured sessions on urban farmers, farmers, and youth.
