Since the beginning of 2021, many parts of Africa have seen surges in COVID-19 infections and deaths - including Uganda. In response, AgrAbility for Africa staff have increased efforts supporting virus health information communication through increased sharing of COVID-19 health safety animations via mobile technology and through COVID-19 safety flyers and posters. This has not been easy in the midst of movement restrictions that hinder personal outreach.
This initiative is intended to increase the reach of appropriate health information to rural farming communities in different parts of Uganda.
The improvement in quality of client engagement during times of isolation has proven effective in mobilizing farmers and communities toward controlling and preventing further spread of the virus and decreasing deaths that have largely resulted from late- or mis-diagnosis of the disease.
