Virginia

AgrAbility Virginia is currently working with 17 farmer clients at various levels of engagement and need. Staff has been assisting a farmer with low vision by connecting him with the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired, and referring him to an AT retailer to try out different assistive devices. Staff is also working to help this farmer get a data-connected tablet computer that would allow him to text and search the internet on a bigger screen while in the field.

This month, AgrAbility VA completed an outreach campaign directed towards large-animal veterinarians across the state. As providers of healthcare to farm animals, this group was identified as a valuable ally for the AgrAbility mission. Staff sent 182 letters and brochures about AgrAbility VA's services.

AgrAbility Virginia was featured on the PBS serious "Home Grown in Virginia" where one of their field representatives, Tony, shared about adaptive tools that could help in the garden. The show also highlighted one of AgrAbility VA's farmers who expressed his gratitude for the program. Click HERE to watch the video.
