More than 20 community members attended, developing the essential skills to assist individuals in crisis.
Staff had the opportunity to visit the Veteran's Farm of NC. Owner and Executive Director Robert Elliott has been essential in developing a program to provide agricultural training to transitioning service members. Representatives from NC Farm Bureau and various educators also visited to witness the ongoing impacts the program has across the NC veteran community.
Dr. Glen Rains was invited by NASF and BARD to present his research in Israel. The purpose was to foster interactions and collaborations between the two countries. The session was held in Tel-Aviv, Israel, July 16-21.
Dr. Rains presented at the ASABE International Conference in Omaha, Nebraska, July 7-12. His presentation was on how to develop a farm management assistance based on crop models and collected data. He also visited the Nebraska Future Ag Research & Management Systems (NFarms). They showed state-of-the art crop scouting with drones and a skycam camera, similar to cameras used in football stadiums. Also, greenhouse gas emissions testing equipment was used to determine the effects of climate-smart management.
