Large classroom with people seated at long tables listening to Kimber Nicoletti-Martinez teach Mental Health First Aid.Indiana AgrAbility hosted a Mental Health First Aid training on August 28 in Danville, Indiana, for farmer veterans, their family members, and professionals who serve veterans. Military veterans and their families face significant challenges in accessing mental health care. This evidence-based and early-intervention training program helps to decrease stigma, address tough challenges, and allow these adults to show up fully in their daily lives and support those around them. The full-day program was led by certified MHFA instructor Kimber Nicoletti-Martinez, Indiana and National AgrAbility Project Latino outreach coordinator. Kimber was assisted in teaching the program by retired veteran and MHFA instructor Juan Gonzalez. Additional veteran-focused Mental Health First Aid programs are being planned in other locations around the state.
