A TX AgrAbility client standing with 6 WTAMU engineering students and a dog in front of an International Harvester tractorTexas AgrAbility collaborated with West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) engineering capstone students to fabricate a tractor lift for a central Texas cattle producer. The client has an above the knee amputation and utilizes his tractor for numerous tasks around his ranch. Texas AgrAbility did a farm visit and recommended that the client utilize a lift. Staff then reached out to WTAMU professor Dr. Joshua Partheepan who coordinated a student project to address the client's needs. The students met with AgrAbility, an OT, and the client to discuss needed features for the lift. They then proposed three different lift options and selected the option that best fits the needs of the client. The students then built the lift themselves and brought it to North Zulch, Texas, to install. The client now has a working lift that he utilizes on his operation, and the students have an unforgettable learning experience.
