AgrAbility for Africa staff were excited to take part in an offshore therapy program for farmers' children as part of the island community outreach education mission. Thanks to the support of Uganda Junior Rangers, staff can access farming island communities and support transportation for children to their rehabilitation and medical appointments, although not as frequently as could be wished because of the need to respond appropriately to the service demand.
Coffee farming is the top cash crop in Uganda, and it is reaching new heights in harvest and export within the East African region but with implications for farmers' health and safety. Concerns include pesticides, ergonomic related injuries, mental health challenges resulting from poor harvests in some communities, and a lack of inclusiveness. The AgrAbility for Africa staff are reaching out and seeking partnerships to enhance knowledge, information, and health and safety as a means to reduce hazards while promoting a fair and equal-opportunity industry.
