AgrAbilityPA attended the 2024 Pennsylvania Veteran Farms Conference in Cumberland, PA. This was a well-attended event with many returning farmer veterans and speakers. One of the highlights of the conference was a PowerPoint presentation that went over the many grants/programs /awards/fellowships available to veteran farmers who meet the required criteria. Two were created by two veteran farmers to help other new veteran farmers just starting out. "The Skirted Soldier Grant" targets women veteran-owned farms in PA. Being educated in financial resources that are out there is a plus when fostering a professional relationship with the veteran farmers with disabilities that staff encounter. Several of the grants are quite lengthy with requirements that forms be filled out properly and in entirety to have the best opportunity of securing one.
