The Center for Independent Living (CIL) of Broward/Gulf Coast committed more than $100,000 to Florida AgrAbility to assist farmers with infrastructure repair, financial loss, and other miscellaneous damages occurred on the farms due to 2022 category 5 Hurricane Ian that caused an estimated $1 billion in agricultural-production losses. So far, AgrAbility Case Coordinator Lindsey Head has collaborated with CIL Broward/Gulf Coast to locate seven farmers in need of financial assistance. A total of $75,000 has been given to farmers in South Florida to help restore their farms. The funds distributed have been used to plant citrus trees, repair livestock infrastructure, and repair greenhouse structures.
