National AgrAbility Project

A group of about 20 people in a large metal farm building listening to a farmer talk about his assistive technologyThe Ann Arbor regional workshop/assistive technology professional training was a success. Forty-four attendees learned about disability etiquette, medical conditions, assistive technology for farming, and assessment models, interviews, observations, and reports. They toured a MI AgrAbility client farm to witness a sample assessment and apply lessons learned in the training. Attendees were able to receive up to 10 hours of training, each of which equals one CEU through RESNA if quizzes at the end of each day's sessions were passed.

National AgrAbility Assistive Technology Specialist Steve Swain, ATP, presented an AgrAbility module to doctoral students in physical therapy at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, from July 17 through 19. The module presented the National AgrAbility Project, AgrAbility services and resources, the Toolbox Assistive Technology Database, assistive technology for the farm, and how to conduct farm assessments. The group then participated in an on-farm accessibility assessment.
