The South Carolina AgrAbility Project was invited by SC State 1890 Extension to attend the Young Farmers Association committee meetings in Orangeburg and Hampton Counties of South Carolina. The Young Farmers Association supports agricultural businesses and landowners within the Low Country counties of Hampton, Allendale, and Jasper by offering peer support, resources, and systems advocacy at the local, state, federal, and national levels.
The first committee meeting was scheduled for Monday, January 27, at the Orangeburg County Clemson Extension offices. Able SC staff traveled and met with 30 members of the Young Farmers Association. The second committee meeting was held on Thursday, January 30, at the Hampton County Clemson Extension offices. Able SC staff provided a virtual presentation to 35 Young Farmers Association members.
SC State 1890 Extension helped the SC AgrAbility team connect with 65 farmers/landowners who are members of the Young Farmers Association and share about Able South Carolina services, specifically highlighting how the SC AgrAbility Project can support farmers with disabilities in maintaining their farming businesses. Both workshops were well attended, and the audience had excellent questions following the presentations. The SC AgrAbility Project is thankful to the Young Farmers Association for allowing it to share resources, and staff look forward to strengthening the partnership in support of all farmers with disabilities in South Carolina.
