Outreach Program Coordinator Michelle Bachand exhibited at the Wisconsin FFA Convention Expo on June 11th. The Expo is a one-day educational and recreational trade show held during the Wisconsin FFA Convention, drawing approximately 4,000 youth attendees. This event provides a valuable opportunity to connect with FFA members, educators, and supporters. AAW staff hosted a booth and engaged directly with 372 youth, sharing information about assistive technology in agriculture and distributing educational materials to raise awareness of available resources.
Michelle Bachand participated in the quarterly VA FARMS Advisory Council meeting in June. The council brings together stakeholders from across the state to support veterans in agriculture through collaboration and resource development. One of the key initiatives discussed during the meeting was the creation of a comprehensive resource guide for farmers. This guide aims to connect veterans and other farmers with tools, services, and support systems to enhance their success in agriculture.
As part of the Wisconsin Association of Agriculture Educators (WAAE) professional development conference, Michelle Bachand participated in the expo on June 23rd. She hosted two tables, one focused on tractor safety programs and curriculum and another featuring AgrAbility resources with an emphasis on supporting students with disabilities in supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs). In addition, Michelle presented a session on June 25th to guide agriculture educators, particularly those new to the topic, on how to effectively teach a tractor safety program.
