California AgrAbility's Esmeralda Mandujano recently consulted on a graduate research project in the UC Davis International Agricultural Development Program, Department of Plant Sciences. The project, titled "Impact of Extension Services on Smallholder Women Farmers With and Without Disabilities in Northern Uganda," explores the critical role women play in subsistence agriculture across sub-Saharan Africa. While women's empowerment has become a growing focus in development initiatives, there has been limited attention to the unique challenges and opportunities faced by women with disabilities in agriculture. This research aims to fill that gap by examining how extension services can better support inclusivity and resilience among women farmers.
