Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF), remains a serious public health concern within Uganda and Congo. While movement restrictions have been put in place to help contain the spread of the disease, AgrAbility for Africa staff are contributing awareness campaigns through short message services. An initiative is focusing on educating farming communities and informal fresh produce markets about Ebola symptoms and providing guidance on what to do when a community member, family member, friend, or loved one shows signs of the disease.
Despite limitations on movement by the AgrAbility staff, these awareness efforts, together with other public health interventions, are contributing to positive outcomes in the tracking, tracing, and management of suspected and confirmed cases.
